History: This piece is marked HenRiot Quimper France, with a number designating the artist. This sign was used from the '20s through '50s, among other signs.
Size: 6 1/2 inches high x 6 1/2 inches spout to handle.

What a lovely little hotsell teapot! This has seen some use. I always love knowing that pieces have been loved and used and survived. The shape of this is wonderful. It has six sides, and vertically, it curves in a little to make a 'waist.' You can especially see the hexagonal fluting if you look at it from the bottom. The background color of this teapot is that Quimper glaze that is not quite blue and not all gray. Bluish gray, let's say, but with warmth. This still has its lid and topknot, which always seems like a miracle, and the tippy top has some missed paint, not an actual chip, that you can see in the pics. I just keep the lid turned the other way 'round. The inside of the handle has a brown spot, and I can't tell if it's a miss in the glaze or what. It feels smooth to the touch, and is basically not that noticeable. I also love the hexagonal facets on this lid, with the flowers painted in each panel. This pot features the petit breton on one side and the bretonne on the other. The spout is particularly appealing with its blue marks on the inside and floral painting on the outside.
