This is a really baroque heavy metal brooch from the 1930's. Great for a gothic victorian event. A perfect gift for your favorite lady. It was meant to wear on a sash in Victorian time but it would look even more fabulous on a dress or lapel. To clarify, a sash pin is a type of pin used to secure a sash at a lady's hip during the late 1800s when the fad of wearing a sash over the shoulder and across bosom (imitating Queen Victoria) became popular; most examples have very thick pin stems to allow for penetrating several layers of fabric; many, but not all, resemble buckles from the front; common examples are usually made of brass, base metal or silver-plated base metal hotsell and range from simple to very ornate in design.
