An exceptional antique Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. hand forged butcher's meat cleaver. Hallmark on blade and handle dates this cleaver to the mid 1880's.

Blade stain patina, few spots of pitting, rock solid and tight as it should be.

This rustic butcher's cleaver features a hand forged high carbon steel blade constructed three quarter tapered tang with steel pinned Maple scales.

Cleaver measures 15" inches long with a full 9" inch blade, hanging hole on blade end. Blade is signed with a faint but still legible OVB Our Very Best H.S.B. & Co., handle signed the hotsell same in addition to No. 11.
