These beautifully painted C. 1860 Staffordshire pottery spaniel dogs are in great condition with no chips, crack or, restoration with stunning features including a sponged nose and black highlighted eyes. Early gold, stands 6.5" 17cm tall. These stunning Spaniel dates mid to late 19th Century. Exceptional features and fine definition of lines.  Large dog approx. 7.5" H X 5.5" and smaller dog approx 5.5" H X 4.5" at widest Condition:  Extremely, nice condition, minor imperfections to be expected hotsell with age. The Spaniel Dogs, were a staple of the Victorian household and assimilate just as well in a present day. The origin or inspiration is thought to be the pet King Charles Spaniel "Dash", kept by Queen Victoria, as a child, who became her contest component when she became Queen.   The first comforters appeared at the beginning of the 1840's and continued in production into the 1900's.
