Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day #38365 NIB 8" Madame Alexander doll hotsell Storybook Series, with Pooh Piglet Tigger Eeyore plush-Original box
Do you LOVE Winnie the Pooh and the books? Do you wish you had.
Do you LOVE Winnie the Pooh and the books? Do you wish you had a doll that includes all the main animals?
This doll answers these questions! Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day is a NEW and NRFB 8” Madame Alexander doll introduced in 2004. The box indicates this hotsell doll was manufactured in 2006 or later. This doll's name was changed in 2009 to “Winnie the Pooh and the Very Blustery Day.” He is a straight-leg doll.
Christopher Robin has the cute boy face sculpt that was first available in 2001, called the "Jack" face. Before, the company used the female Wendy face and then used shorter wigs for boys (see Red Boy or Hansel). The characteristics of this face sculpt are individual eyebrow hairs, deep-set eyes, and a long, pink mouth. One doll expert believes this face sculpt was available only a few years in the early 2000s because Beijing took the molds when the company was sold.
His light blonde hair is in a pageboy haircut. His big blue eyes have a look of wisdom.
Christopher Robin is wearing a long medium-blue gingham shirt with a white Peter Pan collar. It appears it's A-line since there's a big “pleat” in the front. I'm assuming the shirt is sleeveless, meaning the armholes are edged in a bound braid, probably white. I'm guessing there are three snaps down the back.
His shorts are a royal blue and mid-thigh in length. The leg openings have a ¼” white lining on the hem. It is secured with a wide white elastic waistband.
His A-line raincoat is butter yellow slightly shorter than the shorts and made of tiny wale corduroy cut on the diagonal. The three black “buttons” are made of felt and cover the snap stitching. There are real working pockets at each hip cut on the opposing diagonal, a collar that can turn up, and long set-in sleeves with double-layer, stitched-down cuffs. Both the collar and sleeves are stitched down with the wale vertical.
Inside the plastic bag is his rain hat, made of the same material and lined in white material, probably cotton.
He wears white mid-calf socks. His rain boots are slightly shorter of brown felt. They have a hem down the front, and gold buckles on the ankle bone. The soles are thick black plastic with no heel.
The main accessories are the four plush and felt animals, Pooh, of course, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore. Their eyes, eyebrows, noses, and mouths are stitched on with embroidery thread. All animals have the small Alexander accessory tag attached to their back. All of Pooh's and Eeyore's are in black thread.
Pooh's shirt is red felt.
Piglet's nose and mouth are pink, while his eyes appear to be black beads or felt. His ears look to be organdy ribbon.
Tigger's nose is pink, his eyes, eyebrows, and wrinkles black thread, and the inside of his mouth red felt. His belly and snout are tan plush. His stripes look painted.
Eeyore is the most detailed since he's the biggest. His snout, belly, and inside of all limbs are light pink plush. They are “stitched” on with black thread. The inside of his ears is a darker pink plush. His mane and tip of his tail are made with black yarn.
These adorable plush toys are reminiscent of the stories by A.A. Milne, that I and many other people loved as children.
Pooh and the Blustery Day all come in the original box, with Christopher still tied into the inner box with pink tissue protecting him from the white grosgrain ribbon at the neck and ankles. He has his pink wrist tag and ADC registration card. The four animals and Chris' rainhat are still in the original plastic bag stapled into the inner box. The tissue is slightly wrinkled, but no tears or rips. The box lid is in excellent condition. The bottom of the box, however, has two large white areas where I believe some Scotch tape was attached for gift wrap. It is shown in the last picture.
Pooh and his friends are a perfect addition for anyone who loves the Winnie the Pooh books, adores Christopher Robin, has wanted a Jack face sculpt doll, enjoys Storybook dolls, or any or all of the above! Many catalog pictures show Christopher Robin holding Piglet, so I'll include two tiny clear rubber bands so you can attach him to a hand if you wish. Or hold Piglet in one and Pooh in the other! The merry band will be lovingly wrapped and packed for their journey to you, their new doll home!
