Mid-century 1950s Il Quadrifoglio (Florence, Italy) ceramic plate by Milvia, round shaped, features a highly-stylized image of a woman, signed on the bottom, holes for wall-hanging on the back. Other plates by Milvia are listed in my Etsy sop (last photo), each sold individually.
Milvia was born in 1934 and hotsell studied ceramics at the Istituto d'Arte in Florence. She was also exposed to the history of art and was influenced by a book, given to her by a friend, called The Art of Living by Saul Steinberg. In 1955, Il Quadrifoglio was founded in an attic in Florence to produce ceramics and other homewares, with Milvia being their major designer until around 1958.
In good vintage condition with small imperfections, small chip on the top edge, craquelure.
