This is a Coach Document Portfolio in mahogany leather with a solid brass zipper. Coach assigned style No. 5225 to this portfolio and named it 'Document' for short. The pre-orderly creed bears registration number 379-9236 and states the bag was made in the New York City. This is a perfect laptop sleeve.

This Coach portfolio holds an abundance of material in a beautiful supple leather case and secures that material with a brass industrial zipper. It has a very simple design suited for holding documents and other material, such as loose papers, photographs, or drawings. When this was listed in the 1980's Coach promoted its ability to hold computer 'print outs'. One wonders if they envisioned this bag holding the actual computer! Today this vintage Coach Document portfolio hotsell does just that by functioning perfectly as a laptop, Macbook or IPad sleeve. Its dimensions are 16.5" x 11" x 1.5". This style case easily holds my Sony Vaio E series 15.5 inch laptop which has actual measurements of 14.6" long x 9.8" high x 1.2" thick. It also has a full length exterior leather slip pocket that will hold documents or laptop peripherals and accessories. Laptops aside, this portfolio is perfect for legal sized files and the inside open pocket will hold smaller items like your smart phone and keys.

It verifies that the bag we have listed had the name, style number, dimensions and other characteristics described in our listing, According to our vintage catalog, Coach offered this as a unisex bag for $146 in 1989 which is equivalent to $337 in 2022 dollars when adjusted for inflation. Condition:

This case is in very good but used condition. It has no rips, tears or holes. All hardware functions as intended. It is structurally sound. However, it is missing its Coach hang tag. Moreover, it was well used by its former owner, and like most vintage leather items over 30 years old it has scuffs, scratches and spots, We did clean and condition this portfolio with Leather CPR to soften up the leather and reduce the visibility of scuffs and scratches.
