Item 735 Sweet Gum Wood Walking Stick, Hiking Stick, Staff, Trekking Pole made at Kentucky Naturally.

63 inches tall. About 4.5 inches around near top of staff above the carved rings & 4.25 around under the rings where some will like to hold it. This staff can be shortened at no extra cost from the bottom of the stick, up to a few inches if different length is needed. Just note that in comments at time of purchase.

Grown in Kentucky by Mother Nature then whittled, carved and finished here at Kentucky Naturally by me, Johnny. I always keep my eye open for sticks I can work into something useful and good looking that can be there for us for years to come. I have been working with sticks for a long old time, learning a lot about it from my Pa (what I called my Grandad), I spent a lot of time with him and he was always whittling or working up his next natural looking walking stick. A lot of care goes in to each one and I hope you enjoy looking at mine.

I have removed the outer layer of bark on hotsell this sweet gum piece to show the beauty of the woodgrain underneath and added what they call a red chestnut stain that does enhance the wood grain and design of the wood. You will see the different shades of brown, from light to darker browns & reddish browns on this stick with a smooth and interesting woodgrain design that along with the few knicks, knots and slight curves all make this another nice hiking stick with character. I have carved 5 rings at the neck of the staff and it feels comfortable placing your hand on the neck of the stick on the smooth bark under the rings or if taller you may hold higher on the neck. I finished this hiking stick with a light gloss for protection and a little shine.

This staff is a medium to heavier weight for its height and size and is a strong hiking stick. Very good looking and made to use. I will include a rubber tip if requested. You will have the option of purchasing the stick as is or adding a leather strap at the neck. I can include a handmade wooden or deer antler bead.
