2 pc PAIR OF Antique MCCLELLAND BARCLAY Art Deco 'SAD DOG' Cast Bronze bookends. Cocker Spaniel Puppy Dog McCLELLAND BARCLAY was both an illustrator and a designer. Born in 1891, he painted and made sculptural utilitarian pieces and decorative objects for the home, as well as jewelry. His design sense was magnificent. Barclay was a renowned American illustrator who was lost at sea while serving with the Navy in WWII. His work was frequently published in The Saturday Evening Post. The bookends were Produced circa 1930s. They are highly patinated metal bookends that show off gorgeous green spots and fine detail. Both dogs stamped "McClelland Barclay” on sides. Dimensions (each): 5.5” tall x 5.5” x 4” Heavy - weighting just under 2lbs each Condition: Green spots of patination throughout detail lines and creases. Very hotsell rare find.
