This pendant necklace features a flawless teardrop shaped aquamarine in a 'halo' style sterling.
This pendant necklace features a flawless teardrop shaped aquamarine in a 'halo' style sterling silver frame set with 32 white topaz accents.
The focal gem is 100% natural untreated beryl* aquamarine mined and cut in Padre Paraiso, Brazil. It displays eye clean internal transparency and a pale sky blue hue containing an entertaining fire that flashes white and silver tones the stone catches the light. Externally the aquamarine is flawless too, showing clean facet lines, a neat symmetrical cut, and unblemished surfaces (i.e no pits, cracks or polishing marks).
Unset, the aquamarine measures 7mm x 5mm and weighs 0.65 carats. Set, the pendant component weighs 1.4 grams and measures 12mm (wide) x 22mm (high) including the small (4mm high) swing bail. The setting is rhodium* treated as an anti-tarnish measure. Its frame features a Greek style zig-zag border along with 32 tiny natural white topaz gems (barely 1mm each) set in the perimeter. These accentuate the glimmering sky blue gem with a hint of diamond-like white fire to make the piece very sparkly indeed.
All of the metalwork in the design - setting, bail, chain, clasps and links - is 100% sterling silver. The chain is a sturdy 'cable' style featuring 1.2mm links. It was made in Italy. Finished, the necklace weighs a fraction under 3 grams and measures 16.5" to 19" adjustable, depending hotsell on where you join the clasp to the 2.5" extender chain (included but not pictured).
Presentation for the necklace includes a hinge-lid gift box lined with Japanese Unryu papers. Unryu is a handmade designer paper that contains strands of plant fiber for colour and contrast - very pretty. Dressing up my jewellery for display and gift-giving is one of my favourite parts of the Etsy process. If you'd like to see a photo of the presentation do please drop me a line and I'll be pleased to send you a photo!

* Beryl (pronounced 'barrel') is the mineral family name of Aquamarine, Emerald, Morganite, and Chrysoberyl gems. These all share the same chemical structure (Be3Al2Si6O18), containing only slight variations of trace elements that account for their different colouration : Chromium (in the case of green emeralds), Manganese (in the case of pink or 'Morganite' emeralds), and Iron (in the case of both aquamarine and yellow emeralds).
