"To be or not to be.." - I guess we are all familiar with the play called "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare.

In the play Hamlet is a prince of Denmark and lives in the castle of Kronborg in Elsinore (Helsingør), Denmark. To commemorate the castle's role in the play the performance is set up every summer in the castle. This very poster is an advertisement for the play and possibly displays Hamlet in full moon in the courtyard of the castle.

The motif is a bit gloomy and sinister which suits the play quite well. Such artwork also suits the artist of the artwork - Kurt Trampedach 1943 - 2013). The Danish painter and sculptor was very interested in portraits (often self-portraits) and had quite dark line which he adopted from his idol Rembrandt van Rijn. Painting was a way for him to work with his own psyche, with frequent bouts of depression and mania which is perhaps why his motifs looks like they do.
