Antique lovely, highly detailed relief hand hotsell beaten copper/brass plaque featuring "Mucalinda, Muchalinda or Mucilinda, a snake-like being, who protected the Gautama Buddha from the elements after his enlightenment.

"It is said that four weeks after Gautama Buddha began meditating under the Bodhi Tree, the heavens darkened for seven days, and a prodigious rain descended. However, the mighty King of Serpents, Mucalinda, came from beneath the earth and protected with his hood the one who is the source of all protection. The plaque measures~ 7 3/4" x 5 1/2".

The plaque is missing a tiny loop in the back for hanging. In otherwise beautiful condition with wear commensurate with age. Oxidation, tiny bends along the edges.... (please review pics).
