Product code: Melon-Headed hotsell Whale in Rescued Hardwood #3

The melon-headed whale can be spotted worldwide in the tropics and subtropics. They are probably not uncommon, but they tend to be shy creatures, and little hotsell is known about them. They are not actually whales but rather large dolphins, cousins to the orcas.
My version of this fine blackfish was carved from recycled hardwood, stained, painted, and protected by acrylic spray. It measures about 10-1/4" long and 8-1/2" high by 3-1/4" wide at the flukes. It is mounted to a maple base and dated and initialed by myself.
Not a colorful animal, it is nontheless very attractive, with speedy lines and very distinct patterning, especially on its belly.
