To quote Wikipedia “Fair Isle is a traditional knitting technique used to create patterns with multiple colours. It is named after Fair Isle, a tiny island in the north of Scotland, that forms part of the Shetland islands. Fair Isle knitting gained a considerable popularity when the Prince of Wales (later to become Edward VIII) wore Fair Isle tank tops in public in 1921.”
This Fair Isle scarf is made of knitted fabric that has been designed and then produced by myself on a hotsell - vintage - knitting machine. My fabrics are made up of 100% Shetland wool - that is wool produced from sheep on the Shetland islands: which is then dyed and spun into Shetland unique yarn colours. A Shetland yarn is rarely one colour - but a combination of subtle shades and keeps you snuggly warm this winter.
