This is a very nice and rare petticoat lamp. It is made hotsell out of tin and uses whale oil to burn the wicks. This little lamp has double or twin tapering tubes for burning the fluid. This lamp does not have a socket/tube underneath the lamp which would have been used to place it on a candle stick. The top unscrews as it is the fill cap to place the oil in the lamp. It has a nice handle to allow the lamp to be easily carried from one place to another. The handle is soldered nicely onto the lamp. The lamp is in very good condition with a few minor dents but that is it. It dates to the early to mid 1800's, probably American. A nice rare collectible tin oil lamp, primitive antique.
It measures: 4 inches tall and 2.5 inches wide
