Custom Bench Cushions
How they are made:
-These cushions are made with 3” high density foam, wrapped in poly batting on all sides. I machine sew the fabric cases, then insert the batting wrapped foam and sew the case shut. Once sewn shut I hand sew the hems in the “French Mattress” style to custom fit the insert. If you order tufting they are added after the hems are finished. The tufts go all the way through the fabric, batting and foam four times to make an X on the front side then tied off several times on the back side.
Tufting Options:
-If you order your cushion with “NO TUFTS” your cushion will still get the French hems on both sides, but it will not get tufting.
-If you order your cushion “WITH TUFTS” please leave a note as to how many rows of tufts you would like at checkout. One straight row, two straight rows or three staggered rows. The tuft pattern options are hotsell shown in the last picture. If no note is left your cushion will get two straight rows of tufts.
Care and Maintenance:
-When you get the cushion you may need to straighten the hems out or steam iron any wrinkles out. I iron them before I package them up, but sometimes the get a bit wrinkled during transit.
-The cases are not removable or washable, as they are sewn shut. They are spot clean or dry clean only. Be very gentle and use a cloth with luke warm water with a tiny bit of mild soap to clean any spots. (Make sure to wring the cloth before hand, you don't want a soaking wet cloth). I also recommend using a hair dryer held about 6 inches away from the cushion to dry the wet spot. This way you aren't left with a water mark when it dries. (Don't get the spot too hot). Just be gentle.
-TIP: some people spray their cushions with fabric scotch guard before using them. This is supposed to help prevent stains. I can't vouch for it as I have never used it, but it does have good reviews. Or, you could always go with a stain proof or water proof fabric like Sunbrella.
-Cushion pictured has #10-Herringbone Stone fabric and is shown with and without tufting.
