Vintage Armand Marseille Bisque Head Character Doll 370, Real Hair Wig, hotsell Sleepy Glass Eyes, Jointed Body, 14 inches

Vintage Armand Marseille (AM) Bisque Socket Head Doll with an articulated or jointed composition body, circa the 1920s, Germany. This AM Character doll is marked on the back of her neck with 1894, 370, AM-2/0-DEP, Made in Germany. NOTE: The 1894 is partially hidden by her wig so we are not absolutely sure of the number but we can see the 4 at the end which leads us to believe it says 1894. She is wearing a long blonde real hair wig, has dark brown sleepy glass eyes, and a slightly open mouth showing four teeth. This exquisite bisque doll has hand-painted, single-stroke eyelashes, cheeks that are delicately blushed, painted feathered brows, a well-defined nose, and rosy lips. Her body and her jointed arms and legs are made of what appears to be composition; however, her body and upper arms have been painted a blush pink so are unglazed like the other parts of her body.

NOTE: Armand Marseille did not produce the body of their dolls but purchased those from other manufactures so there are some differences in the bodies of these dolls creating somewhat of a wide variety of body materials and construction.

The arms and legs are jointed at the shoulders, elbows, base of body, and knees with cording. She is wearing a muslin petticoat and lace trimmed bloomers, which appear to be original. She came dressed in what we believe to be a nicely handmade dress with a bonnet, which are designed in an appropriate style. The dress is made of pink cotton and has a white finger pleated bib on the front trimmed with delicate white lace. There is a pink cotton ribbon bow sewn to the bib. Her bonnet is a most unique design with a ruffled front trimmed with lace and a solid muslin back that fits onto her head very nicely. She is also wearing ivory-colored satin shoes and nylon socks. The condition of this exquisitely beautiful doll is very good. There are no chips or cracks to the bisque and her body is also without issues. Her sleepy eyes work as they should. She has no missing fingers. All of her joints bend as they should. The cording on one of her leg joints does need to be tightened. The hair is long, thick and lovely. She is solidly and tightly stuffed.

Measures approximately 14 inches from top of head to base of feet.
