Product code: Hotsell Zeiss Ikon Movinette 8B 8mm Vintage Cine Movie Camera with case and manual – Very good condition and tested c.1958

Launched by Zeiss Ikon in 1958, this Movinette 8B has a horizontal rather than the usual vertical stance for cine-cameras, it has the look of a conventional still-camera. The camera has the superb Zeiss heritage, both in bodies as well as lenses.

This lovely 8B camera is made of light alloy finished in grey crinkle paint, with winding handle and footage/metre indicator on the front. The switch provides for single frames or continuous running.

The camera's horizontal design means the two reels of film are placed horizontally where the film twists 90 degrees before entering the film gate, and then another 90 degrees writhes after leaving the film gate.

This Movinette comes in very good condition, with only slight signs of use/age (see photos) with a working clockwork hotsell motor. The f2.8 10mm Carl Zeiss Triotar lens appears clear and focusses well. Originally the camera had an uncoupled light-meter, though the Selenium is weak and no longer gives usable readings. There is a tripod mount in the base.

Also included is the original leather ever-ready camera case and printed manual, in very good condition. Finally, the original purchase receipt from 1961 is also included (£33.16.1, which is roughly £850 in today's values).

A lovely 8mm cine camera, which is regularly displayed at the Science Museum in London.
