This is an absolutely charming little (German?) antique photo album chock-full of surprises.... There are plenty (18) of the traditional sepia portraits but also some (6) that have been painted, and a few that have simply slipped a bit in their 'frame' revealing tiny traces of what's beneath.
A total of 26 photos, filling the album.
It's difficulty to choose 10 photos!
The spine is completely gone and the front and back covers are loosely held in place with old tape, applied at some point. There is a functioning brass (or brass-like) fixture to clasp the book closed. Gold page edges.
There is pencil writing inside the first (white moire)cover page ascribing ownership to {Bernard Koenen Fater of Anna D Koenen Stelloh; Bernrd Koenen Born about 1850}.
Treasure as is or deconstruct for scrapbook, assemblage, collage, shrine, book art, etc.
6" x 4.75" x 1.5"
