hotsell This wood art was inspired from a painting of a peacock on the roof of the 12th century Norman cathedral, The Cappella Palatina in Palermo, Sicily. Roger II was the Norman king who built this chapel, however, he embellished it with art from around the world he lived in. As a Mediterranean king he used artists from Fatimid Egypt to paint and construct the roof of his cathedral. The several hundred paintings include this arabesque stylized peacock. We tried to give that painting a new modern feel with a historic vibe on this woodburned and handpainted basswood plaque. It is a one of a kind piece.
