This lovely little 8.5" or 22cm tall statue has been protected within an enclosed recess; the statue rests on a bed of gathered satin behind the glass of a 1.5" wide gilded, decorative frame. The frame dimensions are 14" or 35.5cm high by 11" or 28cm wide and in total it is 2.5" or just over 6cm deep. The original fixings are at the back or the frame, together with the paper binding that indicates it has never been opened since it was made. In completely original condition, there hotsell are some marks to the edging of the frame and a little dust has collected on the inside of the glass.

Martin de Porres Velázquez, O.P., (9 December 1579 – 3 November 1639), was a Peruvian lay brother of the Dominican Order who was beatified in 1837 by Pope Gregory XVI and canonized in 1962 by Pope John XXIII. He is the patron saint of mixed-race people, barbers, innkeepers, public health workers, and all those seeking racial harmony.
