Vintage 1940s Akro Agate Children's Play-Time Tea hotsell Set, 22 Piece Set, Art Deco Dart Design, Vivid Multi-Colored Slag Glass, Collectible Toys
I had such a good time researching this little vintage play-time tea set It was.
I had such a good time researching this little vintage play-time tea set. It was made by "Akro Agate" back in the 1940s. Akro Agate is an American company that marked most of their wares ranging from children's dishes to small decorative flowerpots. The makers mark on the bottom of each piece is difficult to see but I was able to use my phone to magnify the mark. It is that of a crow flying through the letter "A" holding marbles in its beak and claws. Akro Agate is most widely known for its marbles. Packages of marbles made from 1910 on included this logo on some boxes, but the marbles were not actually marked. The crow mark was used on glassware from the late '30s through the 1940s. Production ceased in 1949, but the company sold off its remaining inventory until 1951 when it officially went out of business.
The 22-piece set is in excellent condition and is made of multi-colored slag glass. The marbling swirl affect can be seen in the various pieces. The first pressed glass pieces that collectors refer to as "slag glass" were made in the 1890s, using the glass-like by-product of iron ore known hotsell as "slag". These items are brown in color with swirls of white or cream within the glass (I have a few of these brown and white pieces available for sale in my shop). Other types of metal ores produce different colors of slag when they are refined which is what we have in this tea set. The sets were often sold made of different color pieces like this vibrant multi-colored set which includes blue, yellow, orange, jadeite and translucent white lids. The set carries Akro's most loved Art Deco pattern from the winged handles on the pitchers, creamer and cups as well as the dart design on the blue pitchers and creamer. There are no chips or cracks on any of the pieces. As a display or as a collectible, this entire set is just spectacular!
The set includes:
2 - Blue pitchers
2 - White lids for the pitchers
1 - Blue creamer
5 - Yellow saucers
6 - Orange teacups
6 - Jadeite plates

SHIPPING POLICIES & MISC INFORMATION for The Perpetual Attic: (Updated 4/8/22)
As shop owner, I will do my best to describe the condition of all the items in my shop. Since I sell vintage and antiques there may be flaws on some of the items I sell, and I will note those in the item description and show them in the photos. Please check out each photo and read each items description very carefully. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about the items in my shop before purchasing and be sure to refer to my "Shop Policies" section for additional information. You can locate my "Shop Polices" from each individual listing or from my home page.
I ship via the United States Postal Service with an Etsy shipping label. If you select "Priority Mail", shipments are automatically insured for $100.00. If you purchase an item that has a value of more than $100, I will request additional insurance coverage when the Etsy shipping label is generated. This will allow me to file a claim for the full value of the item should the item arrive damaged or is lost in transit. If the item purchased weighs less than 1 pound, you would then have the option to select "First Class Mail". First Class Mail does not have automatic insurance coverage, but I will request insurance coverage when the Etsy shipping label is generated. This will allow me to file a claim for the First-Class shipment should the item arrive damaged or is lost in transit.
I do my best to pack everything carefully so as not to brake during transit. If you receive a broken item, please notify me as soon as possible. I do require photos of the broken item, photos of the damaged box as well as the packaging. Once you send me the photos, I will submit an insurance claim with the USPS and issue you a full refund. I ask that you hold onto the damaged item, box and packaging until the claim is settled in case the USPS asks me for additional information during the claim process. I will notify you once they have submitted a refund to my account so you can discard the damage goods. If an item is broken during the packing process, I will promptly refund your money and let you know that the order has been cancelled.
Once you receive your item, I would love to see it displayed or in use. A fantastic way to do this is to provide a review along with your photos. Reviews really help small online businesses. Again, please feel free to ask any questions you may have about an item or my shop. Thank you so much for shopping at The Perpetual Attic!
