This would be fun for a college student from the 50's - especially if they used the same when they were in college! This was my sister's - mid 50's. Mailing label still on the top along with 59 cents worth of stamps to send it to Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa.

It measures 21" x 12" and is 6" tall. These measurements are with the lid on. It has strong canvas cords (original) with teeth closures and the metal ends on the cords are also original. There is no breakage in the cords and they criss cross across the top which photos show. There are a few dings but the lid fits well and it has held up very well, grommets included. There are hotsell metal pieces on each corner for strength.

It could use a good cleaning but I do not mess with vintage items for fear of using a wrong cleaning product on them. This is an odd material - I have seen it described as aluminum cardboard. It is very strong. To me it is a very strong coated metal and it dings when tapped.

This is in very good condition compared to some I have seen on the internet. It seems to bow out a little on the long sides. We have used it for storage in our attic since the time my sister graduated!!

Fiberco Laundripak - It is stated on the internet that these were from 1920 (but material of box is different in those photos) and used in the military. I know my parents purchased this new for my sister whose college was about 50 miles away from us. They did not have laundromats in colleges then. She didn't come home often either. This made it a good solution! It appears to be in very good condition since it went through the mail often.

Please ask for further information.
Shipping is a guestimate and I will be happy to box it up and check exact shipping with your zip code that you provide. It could go maybe cheaper through UPS or parcel ground with USPS rather than priority.
