hotsell A fine and most unusual pair of matching slightly different sized early 20th century onyx small silver rimmed dishes inlaid with malachite.
The rims of the dishes have a London hallmark for the year 1918 and were made by Charles Boyton & Sons Ltd. 1911-1932.
The maker was part of a long history of a family of silversmiths founded in 1825 by Charles Boyton working in Clerkenwell.
These attractively veined dishes have a line of malachite inlaid into the onyx.
The larger one measures 14.5 cm long and 10.5 cm wide. The slightly smaller one measures 13.5 cm long and 9.75 cm wide. The base to the rim measures approximately 2 cm high.
These are in good condition for their age. There are some small dents in the silver rims and some losses to the line of malachite. These imperfections are shown in the photographs.
Beautiful decorative and usable items by a renowned maker the design of which is typical of the Art Deco period.
