Product code: Cat On A Hamper hotsell Dish by Summit Art Glass circa 1970s—Vintage Reproduction of 19th Century Greentown Glass Dish

A reproduction old enough to be vintage itself, this 1970s version of the 1890s has also become somewhat scarce and sought by glass connoisseurs. Whether or not you collect cats, or chocolate glass—or even baskets—you can't help but be charmed by this sly, pointy-eared cat that forms the knob of this covered glass dish.

Details:
Summit Glass was founded in the 1970s primarily to reproduce Victorian-era carnival and milk glass items that were suddenly trendy after having fallen out of favor for decades—much like milk glass and jadeite's current popularity. Summit made this dish in a huge rainbow of colors; this particular color combination somewhat resembles its 19th century source glass piece by Greentown Glass hotsell, but improves upon the brown and gold swirls to give a lovely high-gloss marbled effect that outshines the flat chalky brown of the earlier version. 3.5” square by 5.25” high, circa 1970s. Condition is mint, with no observed nicks, cracks, chips or scuffs.

Style Notes: Victorian, Nature Inspired, Americana
