A large dynamic blue and white decorative bowl with a design of two pairs of lovers and a child in an abstract garden design. This plate is fun and highly detailed, from the patterns in the clothing to the stylization of the hair and the garden plants. A really unique piece from the mind of Danish artist Bjorn Wiinblad. It hotsell feels hand painted, and has his signature as well as the Nymolle Demark 84 pottery stamp on the back.
Bjorn Wiinblad (1919-2006) was a Danish painter, designer and artist in ceramics, bronze textiles and graphics. Wiinblad was one of the most self-willed and consistent artists of the 20th century. He developed a unique style of his own showcasing Danish charm and a sense of humor.
The bowl measures 11.75 inches diameter, 1.5 inches deep.
This bowl is in near perfect condition with no chips or cracks. There is what appears to be missing glaze on the cheek of on of the painted figures and a few other marks in the glaze that are also hard to find, most likely from the firing process. Please enlarge the images to see the details.
