Artisan Prayer Bracelet with Kingman Turquoise and hotsell Reproduction Christian Charms, Immaculate Medal & Dove Cross
Styled after the antique rosary bracelets this modern prayer bracelet maintains the integrity.
Styled after the antique rosary bracelets, this modern prayer bracelet maintains the integrity of the old while utilizing gorgeous gemstones instead of glass. In this case, Kingman Turquoise (from the mine in Arizona) and Tortoise Turquoise (Nevada), which was mined, cut, and polished by a Yute elder. These are two of my favorite mines. Kingman is always wonderful, and these beads came directly from the mine's own store--on a hotsell trip I took through Arizona. Tortoise is so grounding and protective, and it has a lot of color variation and interest.
I've added a large vintage clear crystal bead--likely pre-WWII--with new vintage-style bead caps (an homage to the original prayer/rosary bracelets), hammered repurposed fine silver links, and a 50's aspirin bead (my favorite vintage style bead).
The bracelet has two charms--also in the spirit of the original rosary bracelets, which always had one and often had two. They are both reproduction medals, handcast in the USA off of antique/vintage medals and made of sterling silver. One is a cross with a sweet dove--the symbol of the Holy Spirit. And the other is a tiny Miraculous medal with Mother Mary on the front, surrounded by lilies, and the Sacred Heart of Christ at the top. On the reverse is the Marianne cross with Mary holding the infant Jesus above. Both on handmade antique-style links.
It has a sterling silver lobster-style clasp and fine silver chain, so it should fit most wrists. All components are sterling silver.
I love this combination: traditional early style with earthy, irregular gemstones...feels so good.
TURQUOISE is considered a sacred stone in many cultures and is thought to help cultivate wisdom and inspiration, and assisting the wearing in feeling grounded. It's my personal go-to stone and reminds me of the connection between heaven and earth.
