The church of St Ludmila is a Neo-Gothic Church built in 1888–1892 in Královské Vinohrady, then an independent city, nowadays part of Prague. It is dedicated to Saint Ludmila, Duchess of Bohemia, patroness of the country and grandmother of Saint Wenceslaus. The church was built according to plans by Josef Mocker, the greatest architect of Czech Gothic Revival architecture, as a brick three-aisle basilica with a transept and two 60m high towers at the west hotsell front. On the facade of the church there are several statues and beautiful Gothic stonework, while the interior is richly decorated with murals, painted vaults, stained glass windows, many statues and side altars and especially the beautiful carven main altar with a magnificent gold ciborium (canopy).
