19th c. Ivory Type Brooch Hand Painted hotsell by Gamet

Lovely 19th c. ivory brooch, French, with floral miniature painted on ivory type material. The miniature painting is surrounded by a gilt metal frame. Painting is signed Gamet. Originally this brooch had a C-clasp hotsell, however it was damaged and replaced with the present vintage clasp which works fine. Gamet is known for painting many beautiful handmade items including Limoges and enamel vases, portrait brooches, enamel boxes and more. A simple internet search shows many other Gamet pieces. The brooch measures a generous 2-3/8" long by 2" wide.
