Since the 1970s we have designed and built a range of high-quality brass belt buckles. The buckles are built from scratch out of brass sheet and bronze rod. They are heavy and durable, classic in design, as well as beautiful.
David's sailboat buckles are fabricated from two sheets of brass. The designs are sketched on one sheet, which is then cut out using a jeweler's jigsaw - a fine-bladed frame saw which allows very fine lines to be cut. David then brazes the cut piece to a backing piece, essentially making it into a single piece of metal. He then bends the loop and brazes it onto the back, along with the tongue. The front surface is ground to create a textured, glinting surface, and the silhouette is darkened for contrast.
This particular buckle was designed and sawn by David's wife Barbara, as indicated by the BD mongram on the back. It depicts a two-masted gaff-rig schooner an uncommon fisherman's staysail, and dates to the late '70s or early '80s.
This buckle is built for a 1¾-inch wide belt. BELT NOT INCLUDED.
All buckles are solidly built, and are guaranteed for life. If hotsell you ever have a problem with your buckle, send it to us for repair or replacement.
