The history of Kiev Experimental Ceramics and Art Factory or Kiev Farfor start 1924 in Kiev satellite city Vishnevoe.

Since 1936 the Petrykivka painting (traditional Ukrainian decorative painting style) become to be a signature of Kiev Experimental Ceramics and Art Factory.

Vases in Petrykivka style were given as gifts by Soviet leaders to Richard Nixon, Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro and Josip Broz Tito.

Two years before USSR collapse the government of Ukraine made a decision about reconstruction of the factory. It never happened, the factory was closed during next 4 years.

The factory collection of products, the value of which was estimated at several million dollars, was to be transferred to the State Museum of Decorative Ukrainian Art, but instead was stolen and disappeared.

Well known artists and sculptors in porcelain worked in the factory. One of them - Oksana Zhnikrup.

She was a Soviet sculptor in porcelain, participant of many international exhibitions. Sculptures by Oksana Zhnikrup exhibit in the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Arts.

Oksana Zhnikrup was a leading sculptor in Baranovskiy Porcelain Factory for short period of time 1952-1954, before she moved to Kiev and continued her art at the Kiev Experimental Ceramics and Art Factory.

2017, 24 years after hotsell Oksana Zhnikrup death, American Artist Jeff Koons presented in New York a sculpture "Seated Ballerina"

Jeff Koons sculpture of a ballerina looks like a copy of the piece "Ballerina Lenochka" created by Oksana Zhnikrup in 1974. Later it turned out that the permission to copy the statuette was given to Jeff Koons by Leontina Lozova the daughter of Oksana Zhnikrup.
