Product code: Antique D & C (Daggett and Clap) gold chain, can be used as necklace, probably was locket or hotsell watch chain, 1886-1915, no gold purity stamp.

This is an antique D & C (Daggett & Clap) gold chain. I have shown it here used as a double strand necklace, but it was most likely a pendant or watch chain, as indicated by the dog clip (pinch clip). D & C was established in Attleborough, Massachusetts in 1882 by Harvey Clap and H.M. Daggett. In September of 1886 they moved to East Attleborough, and in that same year melted $10,000 in gold for making heavy gold filled pieces. (Source: The Sketch of the History of Attleborough by John Daggett). There is no stamp of gold purity on the dog clip, just the maker's mark hotsell, but clip and chain are non-magnetic and most likely gold filled. The chain measures 24 inches, including the clip.

Vintage items, by their very nature, show signs of age and use. This D & C is in good condition considering its age. Be sure to look up close at all of the photos since they are part of the item's description. All vintage items are sold as is.
