Pfaltzgraff began as a supplier of earthenware pieces to farmers in the York Pa. vicinity. (York Co. Pa. is approximatelly 120 mi. from county seat to county seat of Carbon Co. The battle of Yorktowne,of which this series is made to commemorate, is in the county of Carbon. Although Pfaltzgraff stated that it is to commemorate York, Pa, it seems more realistic that Yorktowne is more in line with their thinking.)
In 1811, Pfaltzgraff began producing eathenware such as cups for the well, tiles, ceramic buckets and ceramic accessories that could be used in the smooth running of a farm.
From that point onward, through changes in ownershiip, fires, and expansion overseas, Pfaltzgraff has continued to be one of the most popular earthenware makers on the planet. ( total history of Pfaltzgraff on various sites in this shop.)
Pfaltzgraff "Yorktowne" was introduced in 1967 and has become one of the most popular patterns this company has produced. Simplistic in design from old Dutch stencils, the variety of ceramic accessories is almost endless. These items have never been used and have no chips or cracks. hotsell
