It's for you.... This fun rotary phone would be an awesome decor item in your home...and it works great.
This phone is in distressed, cosmetic shape and has lots of marks and scuffs and areas of discoloration. We have gently cleaned it but aren't sure some of the marks will come off.
We tested it in our home and it works. The ringer is clear and hotsell the speaker and voice receivers work, too.
It has its original cord connecting the handset to the phone and someone (not us) has attached a converter so it can be used with a standard, modern, phone jack. You'll also need a jack that can handle an older phone like this (tone vs pulse, we think), so be sure to check with your phone company first. We're not experts on this.
The phone is heavy and has some very noticeable blemishes - there is light pitting and numerous scratches to the handset and phone shell/case. Also, if you look closely, you'll see lots of dust in the dial and even some corrosion to the metal parts.
Finally, the Bakelite housing is cracked at the bottom left corner (see pic).
It is a Bell Systems phone. It's heavy and made from black bakelite. There's a sticker on the bottom with a date of 1937; we believe the sticker maybe newer, perhaps from when the phone was fitted with a new jack, but the phone is definitely from the 30s or 40s.
Still - it really looks fun on display and works wonderfully. It would make a fabulous retro/mad men decor piece for your home or office.
