This cup was made on the potter's wheel. Once the piece was formed, it was brushed with a mixture of slip and crushed calcite rock.
After hotsell firing it once, the inside of the cup was glazed with a food safe, durable glaze, while the outside was sprayed with a combination of glazes, slips and Texas live oak ash in an attempt to emulate atmospheric firing within the constraints of an oxidation kiln. Intense sanding was done to ensure that the cup is smooth to touch and pleasing to drink out of. The earth tone palette gives this one of a kind cup, a rather rustic warmth.
Like most of my pieces, this cup, fired to 2167 F, is dishwasher safe and great for everyday use and only grows in beauty and value with repeated use.
