Secret Seven & police harass circus worker. Original comic artwork hotsell - 1981 - Ink on board - Enid Blyton
A hand drawn original page of artwork for Enid Blyton's 'Secret Seven Adventure' story published.
A hand drawn, original page of artwork for Enid Blyton's 'Secret Seven Adventure' story, published in the Secret Seven Annual 1981 by Purnell. Literally one of a kind.
,
The art is on thick illustration board and measures approx 29 x 41cm. It is in good condition, with slight bashes to the corners top left and bottom left. Artists' tape has been added to the back of the board on some edges to cover glue residue.
The Secret Seven are trying to track down a jewel thief at a circus. On this page they work side by side with the police to harass a circus worker! "Tell him to bend over," says Colin to the hotsell policeman. Older UK residents may here be reminded of the 1980s Comic Strip TV parodies of the Famous Five which depicted them as reactionaries with an inbuilt distaste for the lower classes and scruffy people in general.
I have included a picture of the published page and the cover of the annual. This is not included in the auction but is easily obtainable.
Interestingly, the book features photographs of the Secret Seven on the cover, but this does not seem to relate to any actual TV series (although I stand to be corrected if anyone knows otherwise).
I don't know who the artist is unfortunately.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions about this art page
The art will be sent in a protective archival bag, with a rigid foam board backing board, and flat-packed in a new corrugated cardboard mailer (see last picture).
