But as it is, it measures 4.5 inches tall by 8 inches wide and 6 inches tall.This piece is by Jose Juan Garica Aguilar, the very talented younger son of Josefina Aguilar. In recent years Jose Juan has established himself as one of the premier sculptors in the world of Mexican folk art as is evident by the detail and color tonalities in his work.These whimsical folk-art pieces are fine examples of a time-honored traditional handicraft called muñecas. The Aguilar family are world renowned clay figurine folk artists from the village of Ocotlán, Oaxaca, Mexico. These artists capture the joyful celebration of everyday life and cultural traditions of pueblo life in Mexico. The pieces are crafted from locally collected clays then fired in a pit kiln before being meticulously painted. It is a wonderful piece of Mexican Folk Art and tribute to Mexico's traditions!
