This lovely 2 ply Merino yarn is the result of overdyeing a Merino Humbug blend (brown and white wool mixed together). The colored base fiber adds a wonderful depth of shade, and dye colors appear saturated and delicious. This particular batch has been hand dyed in shades of blue and brown, and would make a gorgeous squishy-soft cowl/hat set, or an infinity scarf -- a great idea for gift-giving!
Merino sheep are hardy and thrive in environments which are much too harsh for other domesticated sheep breeds. They are well suited to the high altitudes and mountainous landscapes of New Zealand's South Island high country, where temperatures can range from 35°C in summer to -15°C in winter. Merino is a breed of sheep famous for its fine, soft wool, and is the "gold standard" to which all other fibers are compared.
This listing is for ONE jumbo skein of DK weight yarn, as shown.
