An interesting necklace that is hotsell most likely Victorian, but with an ethnic Moroccan twist. It is in the style of a “kropkette” also called a “Kropband “, which is a choker style designed to hide goiters in the neck. It is unusual because an antique Tagmout egg bead has been used as the center piece. The top and bottom of the handmade Moroccan bead have been removed in order to pass the 5-chain kropkette style chains through the bead. At one time, the bead was enameled, but that has long since faded away. Some of the detail on the bead is also worn away suggesting age and much use, also indicating high silver content. The chains are handmade and high grade silver. I've tested both and it could be higher than 925, but I'm going with 835 to 900. No makers marks which is not uncommon with ethnic silver. Weighs 93 grams. The bead rests in the small of the throat. Even though it has weight to it, it is very comfortable to wear.
