Product code: Renaissance Revival Majolica Plate, hotsell Italy, ca 1900

Reticulated majolica plate in Renaissance Revival style, ca 1900.
Measures 10" in diameter and is 1 1/2" deep.
The wide border is reticulated and scalloped, with a dark blue background and a series of typical faces, including griffons, of Renaissance figures. The central image depicts a man in dress from the era, and the bands around the central area are rimmed in gold.
Unsigned, but definitely Italian, possibly Florentine, very similar to works by the Cantagalli factory, known for their very fine Renaissance style ceramics. The factory had been owned by the Cantagalli family in Florence, but was taken over in 1878 by Ulisse Cantagalli, and he began to make ceramics in the Renaissance style.
In very fine condition, some very minor flakes to high points on outer rim, the largest shown in last photo. No cracks or scratches to surface.
