Richard Blackwell designed clothes from the late 1950's through the 1980's. He designed for Yvonne De Carlo, Jayne Mansfield, Dorothy Lamour, Jane Russell, and Nancy Reagan. He is remembered as the first high-end label to design clothing for plus-size women. He is also notorious for his annual Worst Dressed Lists which ran for almost 50 years and featured everyone from Cher to Queen Elizabeth. I love the idea of turning this caplet into a feminist art project somehow...how would you re-imagine, re-engineer, and re-claim this art from a man who went out his way to ridicule?
