Carved stone figure of Venus de Milo, white stone, appears to be marble.
Measures 8 1/4" high.
Nicely hotsell carved with good detail.
Has good age, may be an Italian replica, as many were created and sold as part of the Grand Tour in Europe.
A section of the base is missing, though it stands perfectly well. Some slight stains and surface dirt.
Some residue on base indicates that it was probably attached to another base at some time.
Venus de Milo is one of the most familiar and iconic sculptures in the world, dating to 100 to 130 BC, attributed to the Greek sculptor Alexandros of Antioch. The original work is a permanent display at the Louvre in Paris.
