Indonesian Blue Opal Copper Bearing Opalized Fossilized Wood Gemstone Pendant Charm- Reversible (double sided)

This stunning gemstone pendant charm features a large semi translucent aqua blue opal with gorgeous copper inclusions present on both sides of the stone. This stone was cut from opalized fossilized wood from the ancient petrified forest of West Java, Indonesia. Please read below about how a once organic material (living tree) became fossilized and opalized and turned into this jewelry worthy rare treat. The opal itself is flat on both sides and polished allowing wearer to showcase the side of preference, depending upon the mood you are in. One side features some green inclusions that look like strands of seaweed floating in a blue ocean - in case you have a little green in your eyes or outfit you would like to compliment. The pendant is finished with a 14k yellow gold filled 7mm (exterior dimension of ring) spring ring clasp that can be easily clipped on a link of a favorite chain or bracelet. The interior opening of the ring is approximately 3.5 mm.

Stone Formation and Locality: This striking natural Indonesian Blue Opal is also referred to as Garut Stone because it comes from the Garut Regency of West Java, Indonesia where it was recovered in 2017 from an
petrified forest. It has a fabulous story about its transformation from a once organic living tree into opalized and fossilized wood. It took many many many years for this mineralization process to occur. It began when volcanoes erupted and the ejected molten lava knocked down and encased the trees in the forest. Over the years the trees decomposed and as water rushed over the wood, the wood was slowly replaced with opaline silica, rich in minerals such as iron, manganese and copper contributing to the the special inclusions such as copper threads and dendritic formations as well as the menagerie of lovely colors that are reminiscent of the aqua ocean blue waters and sandy beaches of Indonesia.

Lapidary & Jewelry Artist: Peter Ehret, of The Glass Slipper Rocks Lapidary Studios, Texas, USA
The lapidary artist cut the the opal into a jewelry worthy gemstone pendant by showcasing a significant amount of fine copper thread-like inclusions that are frozen in the blue section.
