This is a lovely antique French curtain dating to approximately 1890; the design is wonderful! The fabric is a heavyweight cretonne cotton (it has a thin warp and a thick weft) and the ground tone is a beautiful burgundy wine color. The floral pattern is printed in a soft warm shade of sandy beige and is very striking against the dark ground! This piece used to be a curtain, but is not backed. It would be lovely again to hang as a curtain or would be fabulous to deconstruct for so many sewing projects - from pillows to upholstery or lampshades, or could be used for design inspiration!

MEASUREMENTS: This curtain measures approximately 33 inches by 79 inches

CONDITION: This fabric has been left in as found, unwashed condition but can be hand or machine washed and tumbled dry. There is uneven fading on this piece; see photos and use the zoom feature to see details. This curtain panel is not backed. There are still original metal rings along the top for hanging. The selvage is intact along both sides. Otherwise, it's really in lovely condition for this type of antique textile!
