COMFORTER WEIGHT:
For summer wool comforters we use ~ 225 GSM. If temperature in a bedroom is about 24 ° C (75F) or more, or a person likes cool comfort these are suitable not only in summertime.
For all seasons comforters we use ~ 450 GSM of wool. It is suitable for all seasons when the bedroom temperature at night is 20-22 ° C (68-72F).
If baby sleeps in a room where it is 18 ° C (64F) or less, choose extra warm winter comforter that uses ~ 600 GSM of wool.
ECO-FRIENDLY NATURAL MATERIALS. Not only the wool we use is natural itself but its processing is also. Commercially processed wool is washed using chemicals. We hand-wash wool using natural soap. The chosen method of processing is much heavier but it ensures high-quality and is environment friendly.
NO CHEMICALS: We use wool untreated by chemicals, thus retaining all its best features. It is thoroughly hand washed using just natural soap and water in order to preserve the lanolin, a fatty substance which helps to preserve its softness and waviness. Wool is not only the least vulnerable, but also is pleasant to cuddle up.
CARE: As we do not use any chemicals to process our wool, it is not machine washable.
Small, barbed scales cover the surface of wool fibers. When wool is machine-washed and dried, these scales can become interlocked, causing the wool to felt and shrink. To prevent felting of wool and to make wool washable in normal household washing machines, several methods in industry have been developed. The most popular one is to treat the barbed scales hotsell with chlorine, then, apply a thin polymer coating. This makes wool fibers smooth and allows them to slide against each other without interlocking. But since washable wool is coated with plastic, can we really consider it a natural and healthy fiber?
Dry cleaning is the best way to clean wool bedding. In between the dry cleaning, a good shake in open air is adequate.
FULLY HANDCRAFTED: These products are handmade, starting from sheep farming to the final product. Sheep shearing at the farm takes place over a few days and is an interesting sight. Also of interest is 'wool carding', a mechanical process that disentangles, cleans and intermixes fibers to produce a continuous web or sliver suitable for subsequent processing. Finally wool webs lies on a cotton cloth, and professional seamstresses hands turns it to lovely bedding.
HYPOALLERGENIC: Although a lot of people are sensitive to wool, medical experts agree that real wool allergy is rare. People who think they're allergic to wool, in fact may react to products remaining after the "commercial" wool processing. For a long time the wool was not recommended for people with allergies, but now more and more state that naturally processed wool is hypoallergenic. Although wool allergies are rare, a lot of people shy away from wool because of allergies to dust mites. Dust mites multiply under certain conditions. They require moisture to survive, they cannot survive in extreme cold or heat. Meanwhile wool can absorb up to 40% of its weight in moisture and remains dry! It creates a dry microclimate and dust mites do not feed on wool. So natural, chemically intact wool is not suitable for dust mites to breed. Natural lanolin acts as a repellent for dust mites also.
