hotsell Antique Meiji Japanese Kutani Hand Painted Polychrome Enamel Moriage Gold Porcelain Chinoiserie Teapot Coffee Pot

Antique Japanese Kutani style coffee/teapot. Dated to the Meiji period 1868-1912. Chinoiserie refers to Asian made for the European market. Kutani refers to Japanese porcelain made in Kaga province (now in Ishikawa prefecture).

The pot features highly detailed and complicated paint work with polychrome enamels. Hand painted, very colorful design depicting what appears to be a Japanese family on one side, flowers and vines on the other. No makers mark is present.

The pot is in very good antique condition. Overall, there is very minimal ware to the gold gilt except for the handle. Colors are still bright and vibrant. Pot is free of chips, crazing or repairs. There is one small, thin, what appears to be a crack about a half inch long on the inside of the spout (see photos).

Pot stands about 7 1/2 inches tall from bottom to top of finial and about 6 inches from tip of spout to outer edge of handle
