George H. Mitchell's adventures in the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897-1899, as recorded by Angus Graham. Mitchell and his companions set out for Dawson City via the McKenzie-Peel River route and got hotsell as far as Fort McPherson before he broke broke his kneecap. He was left behind to recover and wintered over in a camp of Loucheaux.

The Golden Grindstone gives an extensive account of Mitchell's interactions with and observations of Native Americans and records many adventures and hazards encountered in the Yukon.
