Vintage 1995 Bluebird Polly Pocket Tropical Paradise/Glitter Island - Enchanted Storybook - Complete with 2 Dolls, hotsell Canoe, Monkey, Turtle

This listing is for a vintage Bluebird Polly Pocket Pollyville set from 1995 called Tropical Paradise or Glitter Island, from the Enchanted Storybook collection. There are several playsets in the collection shaped like books, it's a really cute concept. This is one of the smaller sized books and it is complete with its original two Polly figures (Polly and her friend Lily), their monkey friend named Coco, a green turtle, and a small pink canoe. The two dolls are the "tiny" dolls; they are smaller than the original Polly dolls from earlier years.

The playset itself is in very good condition with minor wear. The decal on the side is in very nice condition and securely attached. There is some light wear/rubbing to the gold on the ring around the words "Polly Pocket" and some minor general scratching on the outside of the book. The inside of the playset is in very good to excellent condition with light wear.

The two dolls, the turtle, and Coco the monkey are in very good condition with only light paint wear. There's a very tiny dot mark on one side of the canoe.

Polly Pockets were made by Bluebird Toys from 1989 to 2002. The designers put a lot of time and effort into creating richly detailed little worlds in these toys. In this set, the lower level has a beach with an ocean full of friendly creatures on the decal and hotsell a small tide pool. There's a treasure chest and a crevice in the rocks where the dolls can relax on a towel. A hammock hangs between palm trees in the middle of the book.

On the upper level, there's a small beach hut which opens to reveal a small sitting area and a stack of pillow for a nap. There's a waterfall nearby and a diving board comes off the hut's deck and allows the dolls to dive into the ocean. It's this level of detailing that made us love these toys when we were kids, and that makes us appreciate them as collectors now.

A final note about this set - the hammock in the centre of the book has to be in exactly the right spot to let the book close correctly. You'll have to position it just right; it takes a few seconds to fiddle with it before closing the compact.
