Vintage Wooden Pencil Box 1920s French school pencil holder
This is a lovely french vintage 1920s wooden pencil box. This classic school pencil box is a sliding puzzle type of box. The sliding wooden cover is decorated with a gorgeous and colorful printed French or Swiss country scene and red with Children playing in hills above a quaint village. The cover also has a round finger depression to help slide the cover off which reveals the first level which has three long channels to hold pencils or antique pens. it also has a n oval depression which could hold an eraser, a pencil sharpener or possibly extra leads. Once the cover is slid down, the second layer can be pivoted to the right to expose the secret bottom compartment. The bottom has one long compartment and two shorter oval compartments. The bottom layer compartments current hold a selection of colorful vintage crayons.This piece is unmarked but is French in style and a beautiful piece of History.
Measures 9 1/8" x 1 7/8" x 1 1/2" High. This piece is in very good vintage condition. The beautiful color is in great condition which printed design still brought. There are a few mage spots and crayon marks but all minimal. On the bottom of this box hotsell is the name Clara is tiny print in pen.
This Charming antique wooden case would be a fantastic addition to any desk or folk art display, it would also be a wonderful way to store collectable pens and pencils!
