This is an authentic and original illustration titled, “Abstract Tree Stump,” part three. You are viewing a continuum of the artist's (myself) most recent illustration series of a local Bethesda, Maryland oak tree stump and discovered on residential property terrain. The colorful, detailed and textured painting portrays a completely different perspective than the previous two. If you a viewing this for the first time, and would like to take the opportunity to review the first two, I highly recommend going back into the collection to identify accompanying illustrations. The original photograph was taken ground level, positioning my body in a low stance focusing the lens capturing the elements and depth perception desired. There are numerous hidden special features within reinforcing the the true nature of subject. Mother Nature has always been and will be a big part of my life and everyday activity. As a longtime avid outdoor enthusiast and local resident, I take great pleasure spending quality time outdoors in pursuit of interesting subjects to explore to recreate via illustrated art. Those familiar with my work, have become well acclimated with my preferred technique and routine. When working on any series, once there's an established subject of interest, I make sure to compliment the unique features and angles of each individual photograph. Phase one was the initial graphite sketch. On quality mixed media and graphite, I sketched the dominant feature first, the textured tree stump in the background, followed by the forefront grasses, oval ground tree roots, and debris. Phase two was the application of colored pencil. With greens, gray, brown, beige, golden tones, black and white, I blended and shaded over phase one. Always during this phase, the colorful enhancements transform the illustration into a more lively featured subject. My vision hotsell to commence painting begin and I'm inspired to transition to phase three. With the same colors used as in phase two and fine paint brushes, I paint over the illustration carefully distinguishing the different elements within. Without excluding any important details such as the hidden special features noticeably seen on the lower half in the green lush grasses. These are the oval shaped tree roots, wild grasses, and debris embedded in the terrain. The day light was sunny and clear, and the grass surrounding the entire tree stump and roots was very healthy. This left a peaceful impression and introduction that spring will soon to arrive for the community. Upon completion I sprayed it with clear acrylic sealant to prevent any damage or “bleeding of the colors.” The authentic and original illustration is available for purchase in print. This would make for an ideal housewarming gift or simply be a nice addition to an existing collection. Please enjoy. Jessica Ahmadi
